New Beginnings

Sue | February 12, 2010

Well my son is off to the Canadian military as an engineer and beginning a new career. It just reminds me of how far everyone has come on their different journeys, whether career, life or weight loss based.

On my continuing weight loss journey I have met my ups and downs. It is difficult to keep up with the motivation and not find excuses for the smallest thing to throw you off your track.

I have been walking Skyla as much as I can, weather permitting, and she is walking much better on the leash now. So I now have to keep it up, so she doesn’t revert back to her old ways.

I have to continue weighing my food and fitting exercise into my lifestyle. The days are getting longer and soon the warmer weather will be here and you can’t hide under your sweatshirts anymore.

We have to travel to Montreal in June for Matts graduation parade, so that is my timeline in shedding at least another 20lbs. I want him to be proud of his mother!

I’m still watching the Biggest Loser as I find this motivates me tremendously. I have made it up to the 2nd level on the 30day shred and it is tough, but makes you feel great afterwards.

Keep on losing……
Sue

Off To The Races!

Sue | January 29, 2010

Off To The Races!

Well I finally got back on track and am raring to go again. A lot of self talk and telling myself not to get disappointed about life. Things normally happen for a reason and my reason will become clearer as the days pass by.

My next goal is to lose 25 pounds. I started back with the 30 day shred again and this time went to level two. There is actually less jumping involved but it is very tough. I was sweating like crazy by the time I was finished and boy could I feel my arm and stomach muscles.

Now that I am not doing my course anymore I miss my walks. I had every intention of starting them up and taking Skyla for a walk around the block, about 4miles. I was just getting dressed to go yesterday morning when a snow squall came in with high, high winds. So needless to say we stayed inside. The storm raged all day here!

I spent some time looking through some cookbooks and picked a few recipes to try out that sound good and are low in fat and healthy. I am pretty much cooking for only the two of us right now, so I have to remember to make less. Especially when it comes to the potatoes! Unfortunately I do love my roasted and oven baked potato wedgies.

You can find part of the reason of how I got more motivated over at my other blog, Whoissuefleckenstein, take a peek and feel free to leave comments.

Feeling Healthy Again

Sue | November 18, 2009

Feeling Healthy Again

Managed to get over the flu bug in about a week. Put that down to the fact of being healthier and eating lots of fruits and veggies. Started walking again this week, it is wonderful to enjoy the crisp mornings and hear the birds chirping away.

I lost another 6lbs while being sick and have kept it off! Now just have to get back into doing my 30 day shred routine and back onto the Bowflex. Would love to lose at least another 10lbs by Christmas. Still have to rake and move mountains of leaves before the snow comes. It is just difficult as by the time you get home in the evening it gets dark so fast and the minute the sun is behind the trees the temperatures drop dramatically.

Food wise I am finding that I am eating smaller portions and feeling full, plus reaching for the water bottle is becoming more of a habit as well. Bit by bit these small adjustments are becoming more of a daily routine.

Time to go for a quick walk and enjoy the sunshine. Want to try out a great new exercise dvd?

New Exercises Added

New Exercises Added

With the weather getting colder and wetter I wasn’t able to get outside and exercise as much, so had to start training inside. I went out and got the 30 day shred DVD and boy does it give you a workout. I watched it all the way through and it didn’t look that hard. Of course doing it was something else and I was sweating and hurting pretty fast. I followed it all the way through the first level and did the 30 minutes, had to modify a few things towards the end but didn’t want to give up. I am all ready feeling the burn and am looking forward to working out tomorrow some more.

Food wise I am really making the effort to keep my food journal and track everything I eat. My weight loss has slowed down in the last couple of weeks but haven’t gotten out on my bike as much either. My stair climbing has started to bother my knee a bit so have slowed down on that for a few days, but I was up to 64 times.

From all my reading I am learning that I need to eat 1200 calories a day to get to my target weight of 170 lbs, but that I also need to burn that many calories per day. I am having trouble with that, my morning walk burns about 300 calories and the DVD burn 279, so that doesn’t even get me half way there. Will have to do some more research and see what else I can add in to burn those calories!

Trying to do incorporate as much fresh food as possible and use the least amount of canned food and sauces. Today for lunch I had a turkey and lettuce sandwich, I used a nice spicy mustard on the rye bread instead of any margarine or mayo and it tasted good. Tonight we are having homemade pizza and I can have a nice slice without feeling guilty. For the weekend I plan on cooking spaghetti, but I will use spaghetti squash instead of noodles and am loading it with tons of fresh peppers and mushrooms…am looking forward to it.

Off to take the dogs out and have a herbal tea.

Lifestyle Change

Sue | July 5, 2009

Lifestyle Change

Well I know we have all tried dieting before but it never works, you lose some pounds and then gradually put them back on and more. So I have decided that I need to change my lifestyle to be successful and view this as a permanent, good change and not something that is just temporary.

I have watched many episodes of ‘The Last 10lbs Bootcamp’, and it is my turn to make changes. So please follow along and if you have any suggestions or things that have worked for you please add them in.

My Goals:

Lose 70lbs

Feel healthy

Become stronger

My Method:

Use exerices posted in ‘10lb Shred’ ebook

Walking

Portion Control

Healthy choices

Keep to 1500 per day

Drink lots of water

Avoid Alcohol

I am 5ft 10in tall and am tired of looking so big, being sore and just not being able to move my body the way I want to. Just gardening leaves me so sore and achy, it is unbelievable. I want to be able to hike on a trail and feel good and not out of breathe.
