Happy New Year

Happy New Year

Well the New Year finally came and went and it is time to get back on track with life in general. I weighed myself this morning and only gained 1 pound over the holidays so I am very glad about that. I now have to get back on track with exercise, I have rested my foot so will see how it goes when I start up tomorrow.

I love the saying: It is not what you do between Christmas and New Year’s, it’s what you do between New Year’s and Christmas that counts!

It is very true a few days of extras is not going to hurt it’s when those few days turn into weeks and then months.

So for myself for getting back on track I purchased some digital food scales so I can really track what I eat, plus I opend a free account over at myfitnesspal so it will make it really easy to track my food, exercise and water intake. Plus meet others who are trying to lose weight and maybe get inspired, hey or even inspire someone myself!

Tuesday/Weigh-In

Sue | December 8, 2009

Tuesday/Weigh-In

Weighed myself in this morning and am down another 2lbs. It must be all the stacking and moving firewood and cleaning my walls in preparation for painting! Any exercise is good as long as you move. This week I have managed to walk 9kms so far, even though my foot is still sore, it seems to get better as it warms up and gets worked in.

Found some easy ways to burn calories:

For a 150-pound person, doing these exercises will burn about 150 calories.

Walking 1.5 km at a pace of 15 to 20 minutes per km
Swimming laps for 20 minutes
Bicycling for 30 minutes
Running 1.5 km at a pace of 10 minutes per km
Climbing stairs for 15 minutes
Raking leaves for 30 minutes
Playing basketball for 15 to 30 minutes
Playing volleyball for 45 to 60 minutes
Gardening for 30 to 45 minutes
Jumping rope for 15 minutes
Dancing for 30 minutes
Plus for those of us living in a snowy climate we can add snow shovelling to that list.

The more intense you work out, it will take less time to burn the calories, or the more calories you will burn in the same amount of time! Pick one and try it out today!

Feeling Healthy Again

Feeling Healthy Again

Managed to get over the flu bug in about a week. Put that down to the fact of being healthier and eating lots of fruits and veggies. Started walking again this week, it is wonderful to enjoy the crisp mornings and hear the birds chirping away.

I lost another 6lbs while being sick and have kept it off! Now just have to get back into doing my 30 day shred routine and back onto the Bowflex. Would love to lose at least another 10lbs by Christmas. Still have to rake and move mountains of leaves before the snow comes. It is just difficult as by the time you get home in the evening it gets dark so fast and the minute the sun is behind the trees the temperatures drop dramatically.

Food wise I am finding that I am eating smaller portions and feeling full, plus reaching for the water bottle is becoming more of a habit as well. Bit by bit these small adjustments are becoming more of a daily routine.

Time to go for a quick walk and enjoy the sunshine. Want to try out a great new exercise dvd?

Feeling Down

Sue | November 1, 2009

Feeling Down

Well for the past few days I have been feeling down. I added new exercises to my program and expected to see a jump in weight loss and nothing at all. In fact all I got back was really sore heels from trying to do jumping jacks and butt kicks. So I have been limping around all weekend.

Today I made myself go out into the garden and moved my lilies around for next year, so they have space to grow. So I did about two hours of exercise, which made me feel much better and raring to go. I will just have to really watch and weigh my food and hopefully that will give me a kick start too.

I joined in a challenge over at Jillian Michaels forum to walk 100 miles in Novemeber..so that is going to be a great challenge. With my walking to work every morning that will be a great start and we can even add cycling to the mix.

Found some great trackers to help me record the miles and my weight loss. Looks like fun!

Good Job With Thanksgiving

Good Job With Thanksgiving

Well I made it through the Thanksgiving weekend without any major upsets and when I got on the scale I even lost a pound this week, so all in all I was really thrilled.

My turkey dinner consisted of:

4oz turkey, white meat
1 cup roasted potatoes
Pepper squash, mashed with a little brown sugar
Red Cabbage
Home made gravy

2 glasses wine.

I was full without going overboard and really didn’t even want anymore. Tonight we are making some nice homemade turkey broth and will add onions, garlic and carrots to it tomorrow for dinner. So as long as I don’t add too many potatoes it will not be fattening.

So a possibly good resource to help with weight loss at WeightLossforidiots. Will do some more research on it first.

Tonight is my exercise ball and sit up nights, figured I will do it inbetween commercials while I watch the Biggest Loser tonight.
