New Exercises Added

New Exercises Added

With the weather getting colder and wetter I wasn’t able to get outside and exercise as much, so had to start training inside. I went out and got the 30 day shred DVD and boy does it give you a workout. I watched it all the way through and it didn’t look that hard. Of course doing it was something else and I was sweating and hurting pretty fast. I followed it all the way through the first level and did the 30 minutes, had to modify a few things towards the end but didn’t want to give up. I am all ready feeling the burn and am looking forward to working out tomorrow some more.

Food wise I am really making the effort to keep my food journal and track everything I eat. My weight loss has slowed down in the last couple of weeks but haven’t gotten out on my bike as much either. My stair climbing has started to bother my knee a bit so have slowed down on that for a few days, but I was up to 64 times.

From all my reading I am learning that I need to eat 1200 calories a day to get to my target weight of 170 lbs, but that I also need to burn that many calories per day. I am having trouble with that, my morning walk burns about 300 calories and the DVD burn 279, so that doesn’t even get me half way there. Will have to do some more research and see what else I can add in to burn those calories!

Trying to do incorporate as much fresh food as possible and use the least amount of canned food and sauces. Today for lunch I had a turkey and lettuce sandwich, I used a nice spicy mustard on the rye bread instead of any margarine or mayo and it tasted good. Tonight we are having homemade pizza and I can have a nice slice without feeling guilty. For the weekend I plan on cooking spaghetti, but I will use spaghetti squash instead of noodles and am loading it with tons of fresh peppers and mushrooms…am looking forward to it.

Off to take the dogs out and have a herbal tea.

Good Job With Thanksgiving

Sue | October 13, 2009

Good Job With Thanksgiving

Well I made it through the Thanksgiving weekend without any major upsets and when I got on the scale I even lost a pound this week, so all in all I was really thrilled.

My turkey dinner consisted of:

4oz turkey, white meat
1 cup roasted potatoes
Pepper squash, mashed with a little brown sugar
Red Cabbage
Home made gravy

2 glasses wine.

I was full without going overboard and really didn’t even want anymore. Tonight we are making some nice homemade turkey broth and will add onions, garlic and carrots to it tomorrow for dinner. So as long as I don’t add too many potatoes it will not be fattening.

So a possibly good resource to help with weight loss at WeightLossforidiots. Will do some more research on it first.

Tonight is my exercise ball and sit up nights, figured I will do it inbetween commercials while I watch the Biggest Loser tonight.

Crazy Week

Crazy Week

Not sure where this week went but another Friday is here and it is a long weekend here in Canada, with Thanksgiving on Monday. I lost 2lbs this week and managed to get my walks in for all four days. It felt wonderful to walk again and the funny thing is I actually missed the walks, I figured I would even walk in the rain if I had too as long as it wasn’t pouring!

I added my stair climbing in too this week and have made it up to 60 times. Matt, my son, is showing me how to do proper sit ups and leg raises so I can attach my stomach area, I really want to lose the inches there!

Food wise I am trying to stay around 1200 calories and allow myself a bit more on the weekend if I need it. But am trying not to go over. I just made some Chowder with Scallops for dinner and this was very low in calories too. Monday we will have our Turkey and I plan on making lots of veggies, especially red cabbage and will watch the potatoes. I want to make an apple pie and use phyllo dough for the pastry so again this will help with the calories too.

Anyway off for my herbal tea with my husband.

Tomato Soup – Low Calorie

Sue | October 4, 2009

TomatoTomato Soup – Low Calorie

Well our tomato season is pretty much over and we had a frost warning the other evening, so it was time to pick all the tomatoes that were left on the vines. Some were getting soft so I decided to whip up a batch of home made soup. It has such few calories that you can eat lots of it without worrying, plus being chock full of vegetables you are getting more than your daily requirements. You can have a cup whenever you get the munchies without feeling guilty.

Sue’s Tomato Soup Recipe

Left over tomatoes, at least 10, chopped into quarters
3 stalks of celery
2 onions, chopped
10 cloves of garlic
2 medium carrots, chopped
Place the tomatoes with about 1 cup of water in a pot and cook until soft and falling apart.
If you don’t have a hand mixer to puree the tomatoes, just strain through a fine sieve to remove the seeds and skin.
Then add the onions, chopped garlic, celery and carrots and cook until soft.
Add seasonings to your liking. I use fresh basil, Italian herbs, salt and pepper.
Once soft puree with your hand mixer or put into a blender.
Heat back through and your soup is ready to serve.
