Research on Heel Pain

Sue | November 26, 2009

Research on Heel Pain

Well I did some research today on the possible causes of my current heel pain and it looks as though I did injure it by attempting to do Jumping Jacks.

Plantar fasciitis is the result of repeated stress on the foot that may be caused by normal aging or being overweight. Other causes include:

Running and jumping which puts stress on the foot

Having an exisiting food condition such as high arches, flat feet, tight calves or heel tendons.

The most common sympton is having knife like pains in your heel, especially first thing in the morning after getting out of bed. Which is definetly what I have experienced with a hot feeling all day.

Home treatment that I can try is ice on the foot and some heel exercises

If that does not work then it will be off to the doctors for some pain medication to take down any swelling. I will try these exercises and the ice over the weekend and see if it makes a difference by Monday. I have missed my walks the last two mornings!

Sore Heels

Sue | November 25, 2009

Sore Heels

At the moment I have developed a very sore heel, most probably from when I tried to do some jumping jacks. When I get up in the mornings it is very difficult to walk for the first 10 minutes. Then once my foot gets worked in it is not as bad. During the day it feels sore and today felt like it was burning. I will take a break from walking for a couple of days and see if that helps.

Instead I will stack our firewood for the winter, it is still burning calories. I will do some research and see what I can come up with in regards to treatment for my foot.

Feeling Healthy Again

Feeling Healthy Again

Managed to get over the flu bug in about a week. Put that down to the fact of being healthier and eating lots of fruits and veggies. Started walking again this week, it is wonderful to enjoy the crisp mornings and hear the birds chirping away.

I lost another 6lbs while being sick and have kept it off! Now just have to get back into doing my 30 day shred routine and back onto the Bowflex. Would love to lose at least another 10lbs by Christmas. Still have to rake and move mountains of leaves before the snow comes. It is just difficult as by the time you get home in the evening it gets dark so fast and the minute the sun is behind the trees the temperatures drop dramatically.

Food wise I am finding that I am eating smaller portions and feeling full, plus reaching for the water bottle is becoming more of a habit as well. Bit by bit these small adjustments are becoming more of a daily routine.

Time to go for a quick walk and enjoy the sunshine. Want to try out a great new exercise dvd?

What a Crazy Week

What a Crazy Week

Well somehow I came down with the flu from somewhere and it has been an exhausting week. I have not felt that sick in years, since my boys were small. The only positive aspect is that I lost 6lbs, but what a way to have to do that.

I haven’t exercised but drank lots of tea and water. Some nights I would drink 2 bottles of water as my throat was so dry and burning. Thankfully I am feeling much better now and am managing to get caught up on the housework and laundry slowly. Will try to get back into my exercise routine in the next few days. It is still tiring just taking the dogs out for a quick walk in the yard.

At least the weather has been sunny with a wonderful white frost all over the trees in the mornings! I wish that was the extent of our winter, even though that first snowfall is so beautiful. It’s the having to go out and drive to work in the stuff that is the downfall, plus winter just drags on to long.
